San Francisco: Where to Eat and What to See

My husband took this picture on one of his bike rides to Hawk Hill- The Golden Gate Bridge is stunning no matter what angle you look at it!

We are lucky to live in a city that is so food-oriented. Here is my list of favorite restaurants and activities in the area. I will keep this list updated as we discover new places. The restaurants are organized by neighborhood. We live in the Marina District so that is why you see more options there 🙂

I will do a separate post dedicated to bakeries!

Marina/Cow Hollow

  • Equator Coffee
  • The Interval- I love their spicy ginger + lemon tea but they also have cocktails 🙂
  • Rose’s Cafe- Brunch

  • Baker Beach- Beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Lands End hike- Sutro baths, another view of the bridge, labyrinth
  • Painted Ladies/Alamo Square- Classic Victorian architecture
  • Alcatraz + fun ferry ride
  • Fort Point- History of the city, close views of the bridge
  • Golden Gate Park
    • de Young museum- my favorite museum in the city, bonus view of the city from the top of the tower (can see the living roof on the California Academy of Sciences)
    • Conservatory of Flowers
    • Japanese Garden
  • Cable cars- Touristy but a must (Especially the Powell/Hyde line)
  • Lombard St- The famous crooked street
  • Omnivore Books on Food- the BEST cookbook store!
